NVQ Level-7 Diploma in Construction Senior Management

Course Overview

The qualification will develop knowledge and skills in areas such as managing project processes, managing teams, recruiting, selecting and retaining people, and allocating work to team members. Learners can specialise in leading meetings to achieve objectives, representing their own area of responsibility in meetings, and developing themselves and others in construction management.

This qualification has been developed in partnership with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) to ensure it meets the needs of the industry.

There are also awarding partnership arrangements with CIOB and ICE .

This qualification is aimed at those who are in work and are looking for recognition of their prior learning and experience.

Its primary purpose is to confirm the learner’s occupational competence as a construction senior manager. As a work-related, competence-based qualification, it provides confirmation to employers, industry managers and card schemes that the learner has the skills and knowledge needed to meet the nationally recognised standard to carry out the role.

Learners who achieve this qualification can use it to gain employment, to progress in the industry, or to work towards another qualification (see Progression).

This qualification is supported by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).

CSCS provides a registration card scheme acknowledged by industry for those involved in construction. The scheme recognises skills, knowledge and understanding, competence and qualifications.

As this is a competence-based qualification, learners will be acquiring the knowledge and skills required through either on-the-job experience or in a learning environment.

To achieve the whole qualification, learners need a minimum of 169 credits. They must complete 6 mandatory units (107 credits) plus 3 to 5 optional units (minimum 62 credits) from the qualification structure.

Entry

Entry to the qualification is at the discretion of the centre.

Learners should be in a job or placement where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow them to gather the required evidence.

No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although experience in or knowledge of the subject would be an advantage.
